There has been overwhelming support for the new proposed IN TIMES OF ILLNESS booklet. The new literature goes into greater explanation of the subjects in the current booklet & includes a much needed section on Mental Health Issues as well as Supporting Members with Illness. It has been praised as "extremely well written". Many of those who have read it have said they wished that this information had been in the booklet when they were going through their situations with illnesses.

It seems that Literature Review is one of those tasks that most people don't want any part of, but somebody has to do it. NA World Service listens to what members of NA want and need. The GSRs have brought the homegroups requests to area, those reps have brought it to region and it has reached NAWS ears. In the way of literature, it goes on a "wish list". Right now, several projects have come off the wish list and are in the process of becoming part of our NA literature. This doesn't happen by magic, nor is there a group sitting in a room somewhere at World writing all of the literature for us. It is a "we" thing, done through brainstorming sessions & workshops. Everyone's input is considered. A friend of mine who has been in Literature Review for a while told me, even though your name isn't published anywhere, it doesn't matter. When you see in print, on a literature rack or somewhere, the results of a project you helped work on, there is a great sense of satisfaction. You know you are a "part of" and what you are a part of is NA history that will help addicts for many years to come.
