YUAN AI HU ZHU HUI Recovery House

A small group of recovering members in the city of Wuhan, China have been working at creating a recovery house for the many addicts that come out of treatment and rehab centers and keep bouncing back in and out.  They do not know or have not had a chance to find a better way of life since a 12 step program for addicts is little more then a dream in this country.   A few small attempts at recovery meetings are finding glimpses of success in 2 cities in China for a short while now.

The city of Wuhan houses more then 30 rehab centers. Some of them are as big as 180 room institutions with 2 inmates per room. There are no 12 step recovery meeting except one, started a few months ago at a rehab center on the outskirts of town. The local authorities and churches have all denied our request in letting us rent space for meetings even after having a reference letter from the head of Churches in Shanghai.  Having no place to host meetings and provide recovery has initiated us to create the possibility of a 12 step oriented recovery house. In creating this possibility of a recovery house comes the responsibility of financing to get a licence, rentals, salaries, utilities etc, that go with starting and maintaining such a facility.

I am Geoff. T and I have been in recovery for more then 20 years  and I have been active in service in both my home country of India, specifically the Bombay Fellowship and in Shanghai China as well was with the Asia Pacific Forum.  I am heading this project.  We have been working on this project for nearly a year and now the time has finally arrived for us to open the doors to those still suffering who are seeking recovery from the horrors of addiction. This will only be made possible with contributions from all of you to achieve our20goals.  We have thoughts of offering hope and a better way of life to those in need.  Whatever you give small or large will help in changing the lives of addicts in China. Our hope is that with the large ammount of treatment centers in the city of Wuhan receiving many addicts from all over China, we have the unique ability to plant seeds that will hopefuly travel to other parts of this vast land  as patients find their way back to their home towns.  Our hope is to see our 12 step program for addicts blossom all over the country as time passes.

Please help us in carrying the message and making recovery available so we can teach Chinese addicts a better way of life.  That no addict seeking recovery need ever die from the horrors of addiction without having had a chance to find a new way of life.

6th Tradtion?
written by Exhead, Haziran 08, 2009
Why os someone coming into NA related websites and email lists asking NA members to donate money for this purpose. I know traditions apply to groups and especially to our dedicated, strong and intelliget members. I consider myself one of these. I consider it insulting to come into places where our members are gathering online and ask for money for an outside issue. Anyone considering donating please consider donating basic texts to your local detox, county or school libraries or giving money directly to H&I efforts in your area. Buy Basic texts and give them to newcomers to your home grou instead. My $.02
